Maybe it is just me, but I think there have been a few good Aussie made war movies, and yes 'Gallipoli' is one of them, I also think 'The Lighthorsemen' with Jon Blake, and Peter Phelps was excellent. And I think I could add 'Breaker Morant' to the list, although it is mainly a courtroom drama, very well done, plus the TV series 'The Anzacs' deserves a mention.

I just watched a review of the new movie 'Kokoda' on SBS TV, they didn't give it a real good review (two and a half stars from one reviewer and three and a half stars from the other), and from the very limited review they gave, it looks like a fairly familiar story about the 'lost patrol behind enemy lines', anyway fingers crossed it isn't a stinker, as that is a story that really needs to be told well.

                My 20 cents worth!!

                Cheers

                Bob

                  Hi everyone:
I can vaguely recall another WWII film with Mel Gibson (the film itself was Australian). I don´t know the title, but remember that i liked it. It was about an Australian commando operating beyond the Japanese lines...
                  Regards. Óscar

                      the movie is generally disappointing.
The first and last thirds are quite good, but it really loses its way in the middle.
The story just drags and loses coherency.
                      What a shame.
But worth watching, some great photography, effects etc., just fast forward the middle 45 minutes.

Why is it so hard for directors to get it right !!
