    Panzer tactics...

I was wondering if anyone could recommend some good books on German AFV tactics in WWII.

    Hi,

For heavy battalions, try Germany's Tiger Tanks Tiger I & II: Combat Tactics by Thomas L. Jentz (Atglen, PA: Schiffer Publishing Ltd., 1997). ISBN 0-7643-0225-6

I haven't purchased this book myself as of yet, but it looks like it might be what you're looking for.

Panzertaktik / Panzer Tactics (Wolfgang Schneider)

The above are both the same book. The former is almost sold out, but hard cover with slick paper and available from us at www.jjfpub.mb.ca.

The latter is the licensed edition of the former and is a softcover. Stackpole books prints it. It is considerably cheaper, $30, I believe, but a softcover on non-glossy paper. (Some of the photos are also missing because of royalty issues.) You can try their web site or Amazon.

The book is a good primer for anyone interested in the basics of maneuver warfare (as practised then and, to a large extent, still today) at the battalion level or below.
