    Opinions about DK's book please

    hello,

I would like to buy tow book's :

DAS DEUTSCHE KREUZ 1941-1945. Geschichte und Inhaber. Band II. K. Patzwall / V. Scherzer.

I would like to know your opinion about it, it have just all recipient names or have a Dk's history, its recommendation process, etc.

    and this one:

German Cross in Silver - Holders of the SS and Police
    Mark Yerger

what do you think about this one?

    thanks in advance!!

The Patzwall book is a name list by alphabet, the earlier Schreiber books did a list by service area. Other than some stastics, there is little other information. Men listed are with name, rank on award date, unit, and award date.

The German Cross in Silver book has biographies for all, with all awards/dates, promotion/dates, posting, units, SS numbers, birthplace/death, pre-SS info, commands, tangent data explanations and photos of the holders. Its the most complete info on SS/Police GC in Silver holders available.

Full details for the award process, the recommendation forms, stampings, numbering system of forms, signatures, etc is in volume 1 of "German Cross in GOLD Holders of the SS and Police." Volume 2 was released a couple months ago. Volume 3 (of the 11 Gold volumes) is near manuscript completion. Data in the Gold volumes includes the full recommendation text for the award if it survived in archive sources, numerous signed recommendation covers, as well as other award documents. An appendix and addendum adds additional info and is contained in both Gold books (and all future ones).

    Mark C. Yerger

I have all of Mark Yerger's DK books and would HIGHLY recommend them all. If you look at the books very closely they are almost like unit histories. The personalities combat records in conjunction w/the footnotes, etc make these much more than a biography of the recipients.

You cannot go wrong with these, they are worth MUCH more than the asking prices.
