    Olympic Book ????

I WANTED TO KNOW IF ANY ONE IS FAMILIAR WITH A SET OF TWO BOOKS ABOUT THE 1936 OLYMPICS IN BERLIN? I CAME ACROSS THESE BOOKS AT AN ANTIQUE STORE AND WOULD LIKE TO FIND OUT SOME INFORMATION ON THEM. THE BOOKS ARE BLUE, HARD BACKED ABOUT 8.5"X11" APPROX. MAYBE LARGER. ALL TEXT IS IN GERMAN. I DID NOT SEE THE PUBLISH DATE, BUT BELIVE TO BE A PERIOD PRODUCTION. I DO NOT HAVE MANY BOOKS IN MY COLLECTION BUT THIS ONE CAUGHT MY EYE. CAN ANYONE GIVE ME AN IDEA ON HOW MUCH THIS SET SHOULD SELL FOR SO I MIGHT MAKE AN EDUCATED OFFER.

    THANKS EVERYONE

Jehato, these books are what are commonly known as cigarette albums. They came with no pictures, the pictures were then pasted in the album by the purchaser. They are probably the most common of all the cigarette albums and are most commonly found without the dust cover such as yours. There were several editions, with some of the editions having differences from previous ones such as different country flags represented. Overall they are a nice entry level cigarette album for someone starting out collecting books. They should be in good shape and have all the pictures for them to have any value. You can get these for decent prices on ebay quite often.

James, this guy is overpriced on almost all of his books! A little searching and some luck from various dealers and virtually everything he sells can be gotten for half of what he asks. Surprisingly Helmut Weitze has some very decent and competative prices on books of the Third Reich period. The two listed on ebay are a good price and still have the original dustjackets, an added bonus.

Thanks Guys, sorry to get back so late. The books I am looking at I know are not cig. books. I think they are the books published right after the Olympic were over. There are pictures of many of the countries presenting in front of Hitler as they were announced and saluting. The books are mainly about the German Olympic teams from what I can figure. Since nobody seems to know the exact books I am refering it might be something I might have to purchase just so I can show them. Ha Ha.

                Thank again everyone...
