An autobiography by Mansur Abdulin, a russian soldier who fought from Stalingrad to the german frontier. The book appeals to me nearly as a russian version of "Forgotten Soldier". The text flows very well and is very descriptive, that gives one the sense of being there that Guy Sajer is able to capture. It really brings to light the intense suffering that the russian soldiers endured from the elements, the germans, as well as their own officers in the push westward. A relatively short book, but a must read for any of those interested in world war two.
