Hi,
The two books I have on "Totenkopf" are "SS Totenkopf" by Chris Mann, and a paperback entitled (I refer to memory here; I have this book somewhere) "Death's Head Division"? by Rupert Butler.
Both books are rather vague on detail and are not a really adequate source of information.
Would love to see the three volume set translated into English, but in the current economic climate - this is not going to happen!
Best wishes,
John

Everyone thinks or asks why the Vopersal volumes not in English, has nothing to do with rights.
Few would buy the set as they aren't loaded with pretty pictures. Most who "read" just look at images.
Cost would be huge and a guaranteed sell of the press run would be required for any publisher to print 5-8 volumes, however combined. Average cost of a book today, times that figure hardbound, etc is the problem.
It's the same with someone saying "There should be a biography of General "X." He'd be one of the 5 who bought it.
Takes money to print a book, much less a set, translate costs, etc.
Must be assured a profit, a failure of that size would bury a publisher. I seriously doubt 500 people would put up the money for a set in advance, and anything less than twice that number of copies in a press run would be cost prohibitive.
Meanwhile, I'm 85,000 words done on my PC (about 220 pages when printed) with a lot to go on my "Totenkopf" volume 9 for the SS/Polizei German Cross series. PILES of new information, and thus far some 350 photos. 95% unpublished and obviously named or otherwise specific (not the "a guy in camo in a Russian cornfield" type) as well as in my clarity norm for those who don't actually read books.Attached Files

What Mark Yerger said about the rights issue in post 21 in untrue. I cannot divulge confidential details, but the fact is that if Vopersal's estate was willing to see the series in English, they shouldn't have demanded such a high price for the English rights. The cost of those rights certainly "torpedoed" a very realistic publishing venture.

Statements I made valid (costs) even if rights were given free. Some of use have been around the publishing business a bit longer than others and grasp financial reality.
Also for most publishers it would take forever, Fedorowicz took longer to print the 5 volumes of "Das Reich" in English (with free rights) than it took for Weidinger to write it.
