    History Hunters

Any one know about this show coming on Yesterday uk tv next tuesday?
    Here is the blurb :-

In a quaint English market town, father and son Dave and Steve Nuwar run military antiques business War & Son – a treasure trove where you can buy a little piece of history.  In this new series, Dave and Steve travel the country to source items from fairs, auctions, house calls, and online. But it’s the stories that they can uncover behind these items that make them so appealing to collectors from around the world.

No, and tbh I probably will give it a miss. What with trash in the attic, combat dealers et al this genre has been done to death - it's cheap, fake TV and just drives up prices IMO.

No doubt they will find something with a swastika on it and wax lyrical about the dark days of history and how it’s to evil to collect or make money on it.

They might well wax lyrical but they really love to make money

All these reality' shows are largely staged.

          They're just mental masturbation.

This is their dealer site - £175,000 for a Dambuster group:

I just watched it and found it interesting. The episode focused on two items and provided a good insight into their background. These were a duelling pistol in personalised case for an officer in the 11th Hussars at the time of the Crimean War and a large collection from an airman who had been in bombers from early in the war. It didn’t seem as contrived as many series along these lines. But yes, they are out to make money, however that doesn’t detract from the items on display. Next time it’s about Waterloo medals and an RFC grouping.

Always good to see a new tv show about the Militaria business. These shows are always staged like “Combat Dealers” but still worth a watch anyway. As for their website...... £125 for an EK2 with the wrong ribbon. Say no more

                  Jacobs Market Cardiff

The guy used to share a stall in Cardiff at one time. Spoke to him about collecting, I know it is staged nonetheless enjoyable

I thought the series was quite well done and entertaining. Nothing from the Third Reich was shown, but they did follow up with the history behind a lot of the items that were featured. Anyway, it was nice to see a bit of militaria on the telly.
As for them trying to make money - well, there are plenty of people on here doing that.
