    Funny question..

For a project I need something that will mimic a red balloon.
Real size of the balloon is diameter 1 meter, so in 1/6 about 16 cm.
I was thinking of a very light plastic ball or a plastic ball for x-mass tree or something, but I can't find anything in this size..

    Other options ?
It should be light weight and look like a rubber balloon.
    No, or hardly visible seams.
it's for permanent display, so real rubber mini balloons are no option.

You guys have any ideas ?

    Jos.

I'm not sure how big 16cm is but I think it might be about the size of a plastic/rubber fake grape.
Maybe a better shape than a perfectly round ball also.

      I'll keep thinking...

        G'day Jos,
I'm guessing that you don't want to use a real air filled balloon because it will eventually deflate over time, but you may be able to insert some type of light weight toy ball inside a red rubber balloon to get the approx. 16cm/6.25" diameter, 1/6 scale balloon that you're looking for. Not to pry too much, but are you attempting to mimic a weather balloon?

Yep, I was way off. I didn't read your post closely enough. Christmas ornament comes to mind. It's the right time of year and I think I've seen them 6" or larger.

Use the rubber end of a turkey baster or any other medical suction bulb, it has the right shape

              Thanks guys,

The balloon was used to lift the antenna cable of the transmitter used in life boats.

It was filled by using a tube and a can of chemicals, which created a gas when put under water.

The balloon was red, perfectly round and to be strong enough to lift the cable the diameter had to be 1 meter = 39 inch

              I want it scale 1/6 = about 6 inch

A plastic X-mas tree ball could do, they're perfectly round and light weight ..

              Jos.

That's funny that I thought a grape would work!

                    Jos,

                    have a look here.

I'm assuming that the balloon in the photo is in the process of being inflated as it looks awfully small to be a metre diameter.

A ping-pong ball, or even those a little bigger that come in those inexpensive "outdoors activity sets" available in most of the toy sections in stores. Diluted white glue and papertowels will do wonders for texture and easy to paint. Hope it helps.
