Very well done. I think I read somewhere that Panzer Meyer had a Wehrmacht eagle on his crusher, though. Seems to rather common among some WSS officers.

Interesting point, I just did a quick Google search and you're correct. Period photos of Meyer show what appears to be a Heer eagle on his crusher cap. Was there a particular reason why some SS officers wore Heer eagles on their caps?

On page 13 of Wade Krawczyk's book Waffen-SS Uniforms & Insignia, there is a photo of a crusher with a Heer wire embroidered eagle, also.
I know that Kurt Meyer wanted to join the Heer as a child, but due to the Versailles restrictions, the Army was limited to 100,000 men. His father had been wounded in the First World War. Not really sure if that played into it or not, as I stated, I've seen other examples, too.

                Nice!
On the image his crusher has a jawless skull instead of the SS regulation piece. But who could say that he did not have another crusher. The color of the crusher's waffenfarbe I also a nice discussion theme. Some say copper brown of early SS recon units...

egonzinc, I had actually forgotten about the cavalry skull, but you're right, I did read about that, too. At the time this photo was taken, Panzer Meyer was commanding the 1st SS Recon Battalion of LSSAH. He liked being out front in the thick of the action. I'd be willing to bet the waffenfarbe is copper brown.
