    Spitfire Mk VB

With the return of some unusually warm Spring weather, I was able to complete this Tamiya 1/48 Spit VB, flown by BoB ace, Eric Lock, 611 Sq RAF. On 3 Aug 1941, F/Lt Lock spotted troops and vehicles near Calais and peeled away to attack. He was never seen again.

The model turned out fairly well although I experienced the dreaded white mist effect when using Pollyscale acrylic flat varnish.

Looks good, nice subtle weathering and the dreaded misting doesn't detract from the finished appearance. I myself prefer the "been there" look over the "freshly rolled off the assembly line" look. So, no evidence of the pilot or plane was ever found?

        Bern,

No trace of him was found. I read somewhere that a Luftwaffe fighter pilot lodged a claim in the same area at around the same time, so that's one possibility. Of course, ground fire is the other likelihood.
