    1 6 action figure question ..

What are the best german helmets on the market and where to get them ?
I bet the steel ones, but the ones I've seen can be bought in China and I've bad experience with China, because they simply don't send you the stuff.

Then, what's the best MG machine gun ?
I've read the plastic ones ..

I'm rather new in this small stuff ..

I'm also looking for a luft field division jacket, but I bet you've to buy a complete figure to get one ?

        Jos,
Check out Ebay. They have good pics of the items and if you find someone who has a lot of good items you can ask them questions and opinions on the various items available. Most of these folks are very enthusiastic and don't mind answering questions even if it means directing you to a different vendor. Once in a blue moon i want something in 1/6 scale and this has been my easiest resource. You can find single uniform items too.

Also, I have gotten a lot of hobby stuff out of China and have yet to have a problem. Perhaps a different mind set with hobby folks? Sometimes it does take a little while.

If you ever get to the SOS there is a surprising number of guys there selling this stuff as well.

If you tell me exactly what you are looking for I would be happy to do some site searches for you and see what I can find.

I hope this doesn't break any forum rules but I sell what I believe is the best German helmet in 1/6 scale through my website:
              www.monroeperdu.com

I say my helmet is the best because it was created by 3D scanning an actual German helmet and then 3D printing the same helmet at 1/6 scale.

Then I have resin copies made, which are what I offer.

It's not the cheapest helmet you can buy but it is essentially a scale model kit and 100% accurate in shape.

If you are outside of the US, the shipping cost may be prohibitve. Recent increases in rates have made it impossible to accurately calculate how much a helmet will ship for. You can of course, e-mail me with questions.

              Mike

Very nice. Have you thought about making M38 Fallschirmjager lids? You would do a lot of business with those too.

also agree- accurate, detailed f.j. lids are almost impossible to find now that the supply of bbi and toys city ones has dried up.

                    cheers,

Thanks for the compliments guys. I have thought of making M42 and M38 helmets but the first hurdle is having an actual helmet I can make a scan of.

The process used for the M35 consisted of spraying a shell without the liner with a removable paint to get the correct surface to scan. I happened to have a good shell without the liner installed, so it was an easy process.

Since I don't collect incomplete helmets. I don't have a clean M42 shell or a paratrooper shell at hand. If I can come across either at a good price, I can probably create the helmets.

It is a considerable cost involved to get the little things produced so I wanted to make sure the M35 helmets would sell to a certain point before I started on the other variants. I hope collectors don't feel too lacking as the M35/M40 helmets were seen throughout the war and were seen worn by paratroopers. Those helmets make up the majority of my collection.
                      Mike

By the way, I also produce a 1/12 scale M35 helmet that is identical in every detail. It's excellent for those who want to sculpt their own busts or convert figures. I know there are not too many military figures out there at this scale but there are plastic sports and movie figures at 6" tall that can be modified.
The MG42 gunner I used in my example is by Dusty Trails. I don't know if they are still in business but check ebay I suppose. The sculpting is nice and the new helmet makes a big difference, even if you don't want to do any conversion work on him.

I see, you would need a real M38 Fally lid to scan in order to make a 1/6th copy. I wish I could help you with that problem. Is there anyway you could get a re-enactor copy and scan that. Maybe someone on Wehrmacht Awards or a re-enactors group could help you out?

Yes, I think there are good para helmets copies, but also guys who might have a real shell to borrow, I guess ..
I think there would be quite some takers, also counts for other accurate gear ..
Certain 1 6 items are horrible and ruin a lot.
Most irritating are the insignia like collar tabs and shoulder staps, I try to make them myself, but it's not easy.

In the mean time I still have no good 1/6 German helmet ..
Have no clue about shipping costs, I would like to know first..

                            Why ?
Well, I once ordered a small item worth $10.- and shipping costs would be $ 120.- for overseas

So, I'd like to know first ..
