    RAF Thunderbolt I

Just completed this 1/48 Tamiya P-47 for a good customer.

The aircraft was operated by 258 Squadron RAF, based in India, late 1944.

            nice project
My granddad would have liked to have seen that, he was a wartime RAF mechanic over there...

Thanks for all the kind comments.

Jon, I bet it wasn't a holiday for your granddad, sweating over hot Pratt & Whitneys and Merlins in the Indian heat.

Great job on the plane...I still have yet to try a plane since getting back into modeling. Well I did try with an HE-162 but ended up just trashing it.

BTW stay away from the Orange Box Cyber Hobby...terrible!

                Regards,
                Chris G.

                  Chris,

Thanks for the advice about Cyber Hobby. Recently I wasted money on an Eduard Bf-110G that ended up too detailed, over-engineered to build. I like to enjoy my projects.

If you want a pleasant return to modelling, I can highly recommend the Tamiya P-47 or P-51. You'd have to really try to mess them up.

Beautiful, detailed work Mike, I am an (with emphasis on amatuer) modeler, and in fact my adult son does thes often, but goodness, the amount of detail in your build is awesome! I can almost smell the petrol. Do you build models of aircraft for customers?
