    KM Prinz Eugen

This is the next project (parallel to the HMS Hood). The model comes from Trumpeter (China) and I also got some after market parts to refine the ship.

Here is the first sub-assembly. The kit is extremely good and I think it will be a great looking ship with very slick lines!

          Looking great so far Dietrich.

Cant wait to see this one finished.

Is it 1/350 scale, same as the Bismarck?

Yes, 350 scale. Same as Bismarck and the Hood I am also building. The comparison is really interesting. The Hood is quite a ship!!!

Congratulations for your Bismarck and i think the "Prinz" will come up in the same perfection !
1:350 is a very comfortable scale for those models. I started many years ago to build the german fleet in 1:700 and there were only kits with parts from resin ....... hard job. So my "little Prinz" is not to compare with your perfect model.

Enjoy modelling and please share a lot of pics with us.

              All the best

                Hallo Markus,

extremely nice and never achievable in 1:350!

I still have two 1;700 resin in the drawer: the SMS Scharnhortst and the SMS Grosser Kurfürst. The WW1 ships are just sexy, but the 1:700 scale is brutal! Especially the Resin models. Have you ever checked out this company: http://combrig-models.com/
                Outstanding quality and very affordable.

The range of ship model kits in 1:700 and 1:350 is extremely wide today, i think the best place to watch the complete program is steelnavy.com

I have only one project in 1:350, a Liberty-Ship from Trumpeter with some GHQ-models added.

@Dietrich: Kombrig realy make some very nice kits, i love the early russian ships. Here a gunboat and a battleship i have build. But now i will not disturb your "Prinzen"-thread any longer, if i find time (beside my prussian orders and decorations) i will present more of my models in a seperate thread.

                      Best wishes

An update on the front section. I still have to do some "washing" and "aging". Some windows need blackening, too. It's coming along good.

This is an interesting comparison: the bow section of HMS Hood and the one from KM Prinz Eugen at the same scale. TheHood was HUGE and still is HUGE in 1:350. What a nice looking ship she was!

The superstructure in progress picture looks GREAT, I am following this one with the same exitement as the Bismarck, these wooden decks are expensive but make a world of diference in the final model....I just can imagine the Hood, another masterpiece

I have to agree with Federico, those wooden decks are worth their weight in gold, for they look so incredible. The Hood has always been my favorite battleship and I can't wait to see how great it looks next to the Bismarck and Prinz Eugen. What a wonderful display that will be Dietrich!
                              best wishes,
