I used to build military models as a kid (1/35th scale). Especially loved building diorama's. Probably why I'm near sighted today!

      Happy Birthday to your Father.
Larry, they are 1/35th, 1/48th, and 1/72nd. We both did alot of armor as well; mainly 1/35th, though I did do some 1/72nd for war gaming. I did dioramas too. My Dad didn't do anything with weathering or damage.

Nice work, that mottled paint affect common on German aircraft of the era can only be effectively duplicated with an airbrush.

They look superb, the cammo paint jobs and assembly are great, and some of those model shown come from some not to easy to build kits in terms of fit, you father did a magnificent job

The fact that your father was a WW2 Luftwaffe Ju88 pilot and combat veteran of the conflict, make this models even more special and history related scale model work, is not every day...extreamly rare for that matter to find an Luftwaffe model airplane kit build, detailed and painted by a real WW2 Luftwaffe pilot.....a treasure in my personal opinion of course!

Man those models are worth a fortune IMO... made by a JU88 pilot!

Very nice looking planes, great work!

I guess your father has good references regarding the paint job too - nothing beats real memories.

All the best to you both!

That is a "mistel" combination, in other words the ME-109 was the "control center" for the lower portion/fuselage that is a flying bomb, when reaching the final target the upper plane/fighter will detach and fly away, you can also see this weapon in a 190 FW combination.

I have a book and magazine article somewhere in my small library about this weapon system, the photos are quite impresive, most where taken after their capture in abandoned Luftwaffe airfields at the end of the war by the allies.

                                Hello.

Is the Ju88 paint scheme based on the plane your father flew?

                                Regards,
                                Chris.
