    Schlachtschiff Bismarck

Last spring I started working on a model of the battleship Bismarck.

Model by Tamiya and in 1/350 scale.

I took a lot of pictures during the building progress, but it takes too long to upload, so I just skip right to the finished model.....

This is built like the Bismarck looked like when it was ancored in Grimstadfjord in Norway 21 may 1941.

    Hope you like it!

Many small details was altered or added by me, but I also used a photo-etched set of details from Gold Medal Models.

A nice model also needs to be displayed properly.

              LED lights from above.

The piece of wood that the model rests upon, inside the glass, is in fact real teak from the deck of Tirpitz!

              Well, thats it folks!

Like I said, hope you'll like it.

                Thanks a lot Nick.

I forgot to mention that I finished the model just before christmas, so I spent allmost 6 months building it - exept for a few weeks when I was away on holiday.

I've been building models since I was a kid, and I think its a great hobby, especially during the long dark winther here in Norway.

I guess my next project will be Tirpitz - same scale.

VERY nice! The display case takes it to the next level. I might have to give this a shot too..

Very nice... and the piece of wood that the model rests upon, from the deck of Tirpitz!, makes it even more "real" if that is the right word to use.

Question: if you build the Tirpitz, will you transfer the "Tirpitz" deck piece to your new model... I would think that would be your intent.

                          Fantastic work.

I've got more teak laying around. Besides, it's more were it came from...

I'm going to make myself some nice medalstands of it too, it will look really cool with an original High seas fleet badge directly from the wreck.

I live only four kilometers from the Tirpitz wrecksite.......

Here's a nice find - not mine though, but a friend of mine dug this one out from the mud around the wreck
