    U-Boat 88 Deck gun scrachtbuilt.

Well this was suposed to be made in plastic, but because I am behind schedule in several model projects in my work shop in terms of materials and supplys which are in rute and it seem is taking forever to arrive, this is what happens when in my country the "scale modeler" hobby shop has gonne the way of the DOO,DOO!! Now I have to import everything and because of paints, glues, puttys, plastics and resins are considered dangerus items they come by ship or something similar, I have about 8 diferent material orders in "rute".....this is killing me, do any one have this same problem of supply with the overseas distributors?

I end up making this U-boat deck gun mostly in brass, is not perfect and a lot of small details are still waiting to be added or fabricated but at least I have been able to keep something going on the work shop. The final cleaning/blending of joint/solder is next.

This is for my full hull static display U-boat type VIIC model, the conning tower you see in the pictures is the new scrachtbuilt one I did for the model, since the fiberglass one included in the original kit was out of scale and shape for a Type VIIC. The conning tower is mostly styrene plastic with some parts in home made resin and metal/brass. if nothing arive this week.....a lot of brass detailing will end in the C. tower to.

And Jacques.......I have'nt forgoten you, waiting to finish some things and then your project up-date will be on your way.

Hope you like this, it was quite an "adventure in soldering" making this deck gun in 1/35 scale......my hat off to the guys who make those amazing guns in brass fron scracht in even smaller scale, just incredible, mine look like junk compared with them

                        Hi

                        Hi
                        very nice that gun.
Heres a picthure of the boat my dad was on in 1952. hes number 5 from left.
The boat was tking over by Norwegian goverment 1945 and was given back too the German goverment early in the 60 s and stand outside in the Kiel war museum today.
The torpedo is an Germans navy mans hobby work when he was station at Horten naval base under the war

WOW, Turbo thank's for the photo, I must say that not only having your father as a member of the post war crew onboard this submarine is an interesting and historical point of view of the extended service life of that particular U-Boat but also the torpedo brass model is another fantastic link to the history of the U-Boat arm.
