How to model fresh snow ???

Hey guys.
What is the best wat to replicate fresh snow for a scene ???
What to use for the powdered snow and more importantly, how to glue it
to make it look real ???

Well I will give you my two cents...when I model snow I use baking soda. Some will say to use salt but I personally like to use just baking soda. The fake snow at the hobby shop works well too. I just glue it down with white glue thinned with a little water.

Hi Andrew I have done quite a few Diaoramas with snow and tend to use a mixture of stuff that is available. Heki do an icey type subtance that look like frozen snow although that is quite sparkly but to tone it done you can add a power called Micro ballons which is a very fine white power which is a resin filler so it sets very solid, but looks good. all you do is put both types of powed into a container then sprinkle it onto your dio depending on depth.But dont be tempted to to mix it into the ground or it will just turn to slush just sprinkle for depth and leave. A fine spray of hair spray lightly over the top will seal any loss but again lightly. Another company is called scenic snow and these have a range which are very good. If you want look through some of my old threads and you will see a couple of my snow Diorama,s one was called The Hidden enemy, the other The Road Home. Hi Andrew -

I have used baking soda or flour sealed with hairspray - not absolutely solid, but for a relatively flat diorama it works well - I have a Pz IV diorama that I did over 20 years ago that still looks nice today, and it's been moved several times (God, do I feel old now).

Sounds like all good tips, especially the hair-spray sealant !!!
I do have some micro-ballons, and i am familiar with that product, as
well as the celluclay painted white idea.

The diorama is already built and painted, but the ffigure is being painted now. i will post pics as soon as I am done.
