John Arthur Geoffrion Sr.

Name of WAF collector, membership level and known as on the WAF: John Arthur Geoffrion Sr., who was known on this forum as Mainemilitaria and member since December 2008. He passed away on 16 March 2020 after a battling cancer since last year. According to a friend of his, John was renowned regionally as a collector and dealer of military antiques and his collecting interests varied from American to German, Italian and Japanese Militaria as well as other areas of military history. His vast knowledge and expertise was sought out and he was always willing to help others pursue their collecting fields.

John enlisted in the US ARMY and served as a Military Policeman in Vietnam from 1968-1970, then worked as a security guard at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in Portsmouth, NH.

I will miss you my dear friend.. I enjoyed the countless hours spending time with you and I was always in awe of your collection..

You set a precedent for others to emulate and I hope someday to be on the same playing field that you were on..

My father does not have internet capabilities but I know how you and he were so very close too..

I'm sure I have exchanged notes with 'Mainmilitaria' over these years; I am very sorry to know that he is no longer with us in this life or in our shared hobby. May John rest in peace and rise in glory, knowing the thanks we all have for his presence with us.
