In Memory - 75 Years Ago

In memory of Lt. Heinz Sandrock. Nebelwerfer Rgt. 57. KIA 75 years ago on the morning of 14 January 1945 in Poland. According to a testimonial I have from a member of his unit who witnessed his death, he ordered the Batt. Hauptfeldwebel to evacuate the wounded from a forward firing position and led five other men in providing covering fire for the evacuation. He was killed by a burst from a Russian submachinegun at close quarters. The tunic (with awards), photo, and some documents were acquired from his nephew in 2000.

The cap and belt are not his unfortunately. The nephew had his Soldbuch, but wouldn't give it up
