The Aviso Grille was, after some time, used as the command ship for the commander of U-boats in the Arctic. She was stationed in Narvik. The reason for me to tell this is because Grille docked a 100 meters from my grandfathers house.
Trough the war he and his brothers used to play football with the marines from the ship. They also got to look around in the ship.
One time they stole a Mauser K98 and hell broke out!
Nobody suspect a young kid.
In 1975 we found the K98 in a well outside the family home.
The wood was gone.
We asked my grandfather, and he the story.
