I see you met the Col. as well. I recall his visits to our local Municipal Airport, for all the big "Air Shows" that used to come through. In his book, he mentions flying there while in College - before his enlistment. I can recall him saluting my Dad at every one of those "Air Shows", when my Dad had to appear in uniform. My Dad being an Officer with the local Fire Department, he has never forgotten how humbling of an experience that was.
