    Hi,

    1)
before anything, did you already visited the Musée de la Grande Guerre de Meaux ?

If you never went there, you NEED to take one day of your travel to go there.

This is the best WW1 museum worldwide. Period.
Easy to understand as it is mainly based on a fanatic specialist, collector and historian, Jean-Pierre Verney.

I visited it twice, if you had only one museum to visit about WW1, it is the one.

    https://www.museedelagrandeguerre.eu/

I advise you to travel in the morning, you need 2 (motorway) or 3 hours to go from Verdun to Meaux. Then you can take your lunch in Meaux (i advise you the restaurant "C Comme Ca" in Meaux, there are not a lot of good restaurants there). If you arrive at the restaurant at 11h30 or 12h00, you can start the visit at 13h30.

Then you will need at least 3 to 4 hours to visit the museum. Hundred of weapons, uniforms, artefacts...

You will not find anything else in any French WW1 museums.

    2)
On the area of Verdun, here are the sites that are mandatory :

    a) Citadelle de Verdun
    http://www.citadelle-souterraine-verdun.fr/
Located in the city of Verdun, frightening is you visit it only with a few visitors...

    b) Ossuaire de Douaumont + La tranchée des Baillonnettes
    https://www.verdun-douaumont.com/
    https://www.cheminsdememoire.gouv.fr...es-baionnettes
The tranchée des Baillonnettes is 800m in the North of the Ossuaire.

    c) Mémorial de Verdun
    https://memorial-verdun.fr/
The museum was rebuilt, but i didn't visit it. Still interesting but not as Meaux...
The museum is located around 2 km in the South of the Ossuaire.

    d) Fort de Douaumont
    https://www.tourisme-verdun.com/sejo...t-de-douaumont
"Douaumont ist gefallen !" Incredible fort to visit.

    e) Fort de Vaux
    https://www.tourisme-verdun.com/sejo...t/fort-de-vaux
    Another interesting fort.

    f) Musée de la Guerre de 1870 et de l'Annexion
    https://www.mosl-tourisme.fr/visiter...ravelotte.html
A new museum, but probably the only one on the 1870 war, and the annexion of the Elsass-Lothringen for near 50 years by Germany.
I suspect that everything is in dual language French/German.
The museum is located 45m to 1 hour from Verdun.

    g) Caverne du Dragon
    https://www.chemindesdames.fr/fr/le-...il-du-visiteur
This is an amazing location and museum ! Highly advised ! If you have an extra day, you should try it.
The museum is located 165 km in the West of Verdun, 100 minutes to go there by the motorway.

If you want to do all those locations, you will need at least :
    - 1 day for Meaux
    - 1 day for La Caverne du Dragon
    - 1 day for Ossuaire + La Tranchée / Mémorial Verdun / Fort de Douaumont / Fort de Vaux
    - 1 day for Citadelle de Verdun / Musée de l'Annexion

    See You

    Vince
