    Best FJ helmet/chinstrap

Hello, with collecting being what it is and such today, cant buy everything so...can someone please advise me who makes the best german para helmet, repro, with correct weight and lining..AND who makes the best chin strap assembly to go with it? years ago I thought one gentleman did amazing chinstraps, but dont think he did the helmets too, but could be wrong. I want to put together a para impression, but cant afford to spring for a camo FJ helmet.

    Ive found this site

www.warhats.com anyone have any thoughts/opinions as to their product?

To be honest I have never looked but I like the look of the helmets on the web site that you posted and as reproductions they look very good and believable. No doubt others will argue that the only way is original but that depends on budget. For display purposes, at the price and as long as you are happy, then I would go for it, the only thing is it looks like they are all sold. What ever you decide keep us posted please.

        FJ reproduction helmets

For several years I reconditioned German helmets for reenactors starting back in the 80s before reproduction liners were available so I had to get leather from Tandy Leather, cut and dye the leather, buy sheets of aluminum and cut it into bands to attach the leather to... it was really a hassle. I was so glad to see European reproductions as it made the whole process much easier.
Now I have been dabbling with putting some decent liners in some of the reproduction FJ helmets on the market that came with the cheesy Chinese or India made liners. I have found some fairly good liners on eBay out of Russia and sewn them to the liner bands available from Warhats. At The Front sells good FJ chinstraps and if you catch them on sale they are really well worth the $19.95 price tag. The black rubber can be found that looks like the padding used during the war or even the beige or yellow rubber used in the very early helmets can also be found at some upholstery shops.
So, if you look around, you can mix and match parts and do some of the sewing work yourself, you can come up with a pretty nice FJ helmet.

Thanks so much, I have seen some of the eBay liners coming out of Russia, and they look fairly decent, I was just a bit concerned buying things from that part of the country thanks again for your help

I have bought from this seller before without problem. He has some pretty decent looking stuff.
