Have some questions going round my head regarding what I have read on the ambush of task force welborn at Hamborn and poor General Roses demise. Hope someone can help:-
1. The front of the column appears to have been ambushed right to the north of hamborn, I have read tanks on the hill zero,ed in on the lead vehicles but the colum took fire from both sides of the woods. How would the soldiers have been deployed as if opposite each other with the column in the middle wouldn’t they risk friendly fire on each other as the space is not that wide?
2. The rest of the column was evidentally backed upon the road running east to Kirborchen and this is where general rose came under fire evidentally from both sides of the road from the woods? The road here is very wide so may have been both sides but a lot of info seems to conflict with each other from account to account.
3. I think a book called Schwere panzer 507 May contain the answers but my local library can’t get it and it is quite expensive so hoping someone can help?
