Still on Japanese submarines.
There was an article in the Guardian newspaper today (16.04.2002) page 19 about the discovery of I-52 in the Atlantic that was sunk on a jouney from Japan to France in 1944. I think the article can be viewed at www.guardian.co.uk/japan but if there is any problem and anyone is interested e-mail me and I will send a scan.

Glad you managed you access the site, it was the first time I'd heard about them too. It must be quite a submarine to be capable of that sort of journey and shows quite a lot of prescience (luck?) to have had a cargo submarine available. I wonder what it was initially designed for. Nobody builds something that big 'just in case'
