    These things were great for snipers, garbage for the regular troops....

    Interestingly enough, when my two uncles from Newfoundland (now Canada) got to the British Army in 1940 in England, initially the 57th Newfoundland Heavy Regiment Royal Artillery (later 59 and 166), they were issued with the Ross for a certain period. I can still remember one of them telling me about how dangerous they thought it was, they just didnt like the idea of the bolt! The Bayonet they liked though! So it seems these rifles were still being used in WW2 on some level.

    If i am correct though, the battle of Kitcheners wood in April 1915 probabaly saw the troops carry mainly the Ross and they achieved victory still!
