Did I read that correctly, bids are at 26 million? Is that the opening bid or is actual bidding at that amount?
      Looking for a 30 '06 Chauchat magazine.

Finally they decided to sell it! I would love to have that. Hey Patrick, let's go 50/50 on it.

              Hi,

              the news is bogus.

The Supreme Court ruled that Etchegaray "should get half of the selling price" of the eagle (in case of a sale) in 2014.

The news that the eagle will be sold on auction (no date given) is now contradicted (August 17) and invalidated by Uruguay government : on August 16, Jorge Menendez (Minister of Defense) had a meeting to decide with all the political parties of Uruguay what to do with the eagle.
It seemed that German government officially asked "not sell it on auction (fearing that a nazi collector will buy it), and that it would better to have the eagle in a museum, if possible in Uruguay".

              http://www.dn.pt/lusa/interior/gover...i-8712201.html

In my opinion, the main problem is money. Uruguay will have to pay Etchegaray half the price of the eagle, and i suspect that Etchegaray is the source of the (fake) news about the eagle be proposed on auction for 26 millions of dollars.
Notice that the "10 millions of dollars" price was already given by Etchegaray back in the days... The guy is just trying to inflate the virtual value of the eagle to get more money... fearing that if it stay in a museum, he will get "nothing" or so...

              See You
