Politics aren't permitted here but I think most can guess just what I , and I expect others, think about this scum that created this outrage. It is my hope that they are punished to the fullest extent of the law.

Who is the American Statue of? Lee?

Just a generic Confederate infantryman - a common statue in the South. At least for now.
And the police were directed to just stand by and ignore this blatant vandalism. At least they have a warrant out (or already arrested, I don't know) for the woman who put the rope around the statue to pull it down. When they COULD have prevented this, or arrested everyone responsible, on the spot. Shame on the local police!

I don't think documentation of ignorant and hateful people trying to violently erase history is political at all.

It's my understanding that the female who put the rope around the statue has now been arrested and charged with a felony! I hope she gets the book thrown at her!

I didn't know they made statues out of butter.

It must have been constructed with a hollow interior, not a solid casting.

Indeed. On a serious note though surely American citizens who are the descendants of slaves have the complete moral high ground on this, why should they have to walk through a park (etc) with such statues looking down on them.
That would certainly cheese me off no end I suspect. Particularly as those who want such statues to stay seem ( from a UK observers perspective) to be mostly racist and generally disgruntled people.
Surely there are better ways to celebrate the Southern spirit ( if that is what is being celebrated) than a statue of a soldier who all said and done fought for slavery.
I understand there are more issues than "just " slavery to the War but it was a big part of it.

Btw I fully appreciate the people in the crowd etc aren't descendants of slaves. But many if not all such descendants would want them down surely.

This could not be farther from the truth. I recommend you stop believing everything you see or hear from the liberal backed media in the US & UK.
