Agreed. I always find it fascinating when they do, but always wonder how accurate they are. I know they layer up meticulously but the finer details such as shape of nose etc must be guesswork ?

It was this sort of thing that prompted me to come to Europe almost 30 years ago. In addition to visiting the WW2 battle sites, I was checking out the archaeological sites across Italy, Greece and Turkey. Nearer 'home', my sister-in-law has discovered she probably has the site of a Roman fort on her farm in Essex. I therefore spent last Sunday picking up fragments of Roman roof tiles, bricks and pottery. There are worse ways to kill time during a weekend!

That is awesome. I have been to Italy just once. Did not go to Pompei but went to Ostia Antica instead. One of the best decisions ever. Ostia is an amazing place where you can just wander around and relive history.
