Rare photos reveal the clean-up operation in Blitz-struck Britain

Some really super photos, but I found the narrative to be rather biased.

    Enjoy.

Great link Larry thanks, however I see no bias particularly?

Nice photos - thanks for the link.

I particularly enjoyed the September, 1940 photo of a ME109 crash (Uzff. Fritz Hotzelmann) at Maidstone, Kent, as I have a friend (now a U.S. citizen, residing in Texas) who witnessed such events as a child of about 8 years age when growing up in Maidstone during WWII. My friend also says that his older brothers made a game of attempting to beat the authorities to aircraft crashes so that they could obtain souvenirs, often returning with sections of belted MG ammunition. On one occasion, his brothers returned with the pocket portion that had been burned off of a German flight suit: the burned-off-the flight suit pocket contained French currency (which my friend's brothers assumed had been sourced by the German flight crewmember from in and around the aircraft's home base in France).

Great pictures, I often wonder what happened to all the souvenirs and markings that were cut from the fuselages, I would really like to own one of those

As far as bias goes, there are indeed more pictures of downed Axis aircraft than there are of our aircraft, but what do you expect !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ffs
