"Finding the Fallen" archaeology conference in London area in July 2016

    Hi guys

I have had the honnor of being invited to speak at an archaeology conference about the recovery of missing soldiers that will take place in the London area on July 9th 2016. I will talk about some of my southern France investigations, and several other speakers will be present to talk about their cases as well. The conference is public, so anybody is free to come, though there is an entrance fee to pay.
Perhaps I will meet some of you there in person?

    Jean-Loup,

I would love to attend the conference If I can I will but not sure if I will be in London on that date. Woking is about 35 minutes away from my son's flat in the Tooting area of London. I will be down in Dorset for my Son's wedding in the Village Church where his Grand-Parents live on 2 July 2016. After the wedding I plan on staying in the area for a few more days and then fly over to Germany to Visit friends in Luxembourg and Germany.

      Hi Bill
Come over if you are still in the area, and say hi. I am not sure what the entrance fee is, but probably not much.

Good luck with the talk..! in the wake of controversy caused by Nazi War Diggers / Battlefield Recovery it should be an interesting and timely conference

Well as someone who has done a fair bit of metal detecting in Normandy, I am aiming on going. It sounds really interesting. It would be nice to meet you in person and indeed Mr Petz who I am sure I have chatted to in the past about his metal detecting in the Ardennes. I seem to remember a relic MG42 on some pics.

Thanks for highlighting the event Jean-Loup. It is very important to reset some of the negativity that has been brought to bear on our interest and to affirm that correct and proper investigation and recovery of the fallen is allowed to continue.

              Best wishes,
              Simon.

                    Thanks guys.
In France when I was in touch with archaeologists, I was usualy met with a certain degree of suspicion and contempt as I am not an archaeologist myself.
The archaeologists in the UK seem to have a very different approach to collaborating with non professionals however, so I am hoping to be better received there.
I will see how it goes.

As a bonus, I saw the UK national archives are right beside Heathrow airport, so it will be a good chance to drop by!

Only a week to go. Here are a few "teasers" from the presentation I have prepared.
