Mengele's bones to be used for "research"

    No, not satire from theonion.com.
I can understand poetic justice and all, but to take vengeance on a mans bones strikes me and childish and pathological.

Nazi doctor Mengele's remains to be used for experiments

Brazilian doctor Daniel Romero Muniz receives permission to use the remains of the infamous 'angel of death' from Auschwitz to train medical students.

Daniel Romero Muniz, a Brazilian doctor, received permission to use the bones of Nazi criminal Dr. Josef Mengele, "the angel of death" who carried out tests on prisoners at the Auschwitz extermination camp during the Holocaust, for a research project.

During an interview with Brazilian television, Muniz, who also teaches medicine, displayed the Nazi doctor's bones. He said that Mengele's will substantially benefit medical students' study. "The bones will help train new doctors," he said. "They will be used especially for students studying how to conduct autopsies."

The bones will most likely be rapidly stolen; and it is a fact that there are people out there willing to pay big bucks for them.
In my med school they had some early 20th century bones from 2 criminals who had been executed in the faculty's forensic medicine museum, and both skulls were stolen...

They are not taking vengence. The bones are unclaimed after 31 years. In such circumstances, each country has its own laws as to what is to be dne with them. In France they would be buried in a mass grave. Apparnetly in Brazil they can be transfered to the medical school for use by students.

I agree they will be stolen, cannot agree with your last.
Obviously, there is no shortage of fresh bones in south America to teach budding medical students with, to say decades old "Mengele's bones will be used for medical experiments" is a pretty over the top, obvious stab at poetic justice to me. Wouldn't surprise me a bit if "Nazi hunter" Wiesenthal group is behind it. Left with no Nazis to hunt, they might well start going after bones.

Can't say I really care though, just pretty tacky. If they wanted poetic justice in an adult fashion, they should incinerate them and toss them in a garbage dump.

So I guess it's fair game to dig up Ariel Sharons body.

                Steal a headstone, steal anything.
Cremate his remains and bury the ashes in an unknown plot.

Most surprised Rolf Mengele has not claimed them earlier.

Yes, so vital because as everybody knows there is a distinct shortage of human bones at the moment.

It is probably a standard proceedure to send unclaimed bodies from the forensic med department to the anatomy department for training after a certain time has elapsed.
The source article is obviously of low quality. There will be no experiments, they will simply use his bones for learning anatomy as in any medical school.

I missed it, who is defending here ?
Maybe because I find it distasteful and tacky to play with a mans bones ? I think if you are willing to tolerate the desecration of someones remains then you are half way to becoming a Nazi yourself.

You might be correct, you are for sure correct about the article.
I find it hard to believe that they won't try to make a spectacle of this, time will tell I guess. If their intentions were purely routine and professional, they wouldn't have had the need to announce it anyhow.

I'm not going to lose any sleep over Mengele's remains potentially being desecrated..... Who knows, maybe he signed something agreeing that his remains are to be donated for medical research?

For all the bad things that have happened, and are happening in the world, we have to discuss the morality of Mengele's bones being used for medical research....
