    Trip to Holland

    Hi,

I am going to visit Holland and I would like to see some battlefields area, or some cities with connection to WWII. What can you recommend me?

    Kind regards

Actually Airbornemuseum Oosterbeek "Hartenstein" (Arnhem); Museum "Bevrijdende Vleugels" at Best (Eindhoven), and yes the "Oorlogsmuseum" at Overloon, but also the "Nationaal Bevrijdingsmuseum" at Groesbeek and the big "Oorlogsbegraafplaats", the German war-cemetery at Ysselstein near Venray, which is quite close to the museum at Overloon. Moerdijk is not "on the road" as all others mentioned.

Don't forget Museum Deelen and Museum '40-'45 Schaarsbergen. Both smaller museums. But got ''That'' feeling.
Also, I you have time, visit Eyewitness museum in Beek.

That one for sure! Great museum. Also not far from Eben Emael. While that one is of course in belgium, its very close to the dutch border.

YES, Eyewitness is a MUST. Beautiful life-like displays. Not a huge museum but there's so much to see that you easily can spend a few hours. As said, Eben-Emael is very close by and also worth a visit. And of course Overloon museum!

Yes, it looks great there. It is a pity I cannot show photographs from there, as I have a large file with great photos of Wim's-museum at Beek. I would say: "it's fingerlicking good"!

If you are going for a battlefield i would suggest take Walcheren there are still a lot of pillboxes to visit especially "Verteidigungsbereich Vlissingen" and of course Stp. Fidelio (Dishoek) and W.N Carmen (Valkenisse) almost nothing has been changed after the war,... there are also some museums like Polderhuis (Westkapelle) and Bevrijdingsmuseum (Nieuwdorp) or make appointment with Jan de Jonghe his collection is really astonishing Good luck!!!!
