I would rather have tulips on my organ than roses on my piano.

Wasn't it France that declared war on Germany?

Maybe seeing history as a series of events as opposed to questioning a single event without asking why it happened is the secret here....

Go one step further back and ask "Why did France declare war on Germany" would be a more serious question?

No, Chris. My point was purposely made in context. Your follow-up question lends itself more to the interpretation of history and less to the study of the events. Both may be equally important, but they differ substantially in perspective. One judges events by the standards of the day, the other judges history by the social and political influences since the events took place.

But that's just one guy's opinion and it is no more or less important than any other......

                .

So If You said "Bill banged Julie"

and I said "Actually he raped her, she said "No! please dont" five times before he got in..."

You would say I am interpreting history and they differ in perspective?

Since when is history judged by single events?

I'm, ah, not quite sure how to respond, Chris. I can't actually see myself saying, "Bill banged Julie..." . But, again, this is just one guy's opinion and not intended as a broad stroked judgment.

I think I'll just bow out with a simple declaration: Never mind.

Please do not start all the nonsense over again.

We all are aware why both France and Great Britain declared war on Germany.

Have some members here actually studied WW2 indepth and indeed the build up to the outbreak of WW2, studied the political and cultural changes, or have they merely entertained themselves watching silly video's on YouTube and Social Media such as Faceache ?

This is all getting rather tedious now

                      Indeed. Thanks Martin.

its nice to have a serious discussion. But people have different opinions on the war whose fault it was and who was heroes and who was not.

We all can't agree on everything no need for insults.

but i can't understand why you guys collect Nazi items seems you hate them and think them scum. i really would like to understand.

I think you are interpreting history sometimes when I read your threads. We've discussed already mulitple times in different threads. I guess we will never agree because on the other side of the pond they learn apparently an other history. I have hundreds of history and war books and all are written by European historians. It is not all as black/ white as you think. And it is true that history is written by the winner of the war. History lessons given in the US ARE NOT the same as Russian history lessons. Everyone has written this in his own way.
A lot of correct things have been said in this thread but not by the so called "do you know your history???" guys.
The "I can't believe after 70 years there are still guys tricked into the nazi stuff" is total BS. Some of you guys are just haters and make opinions not based on real facts. And making comparisons with Osama or IS is even dumber. I didn't plan to respond again on this thread but it frustrates me a lot that there are way too much ignorant people around...

It dates back to 1870 the French-Prussian war...

Seems you love them and think they are sexy. I too would really like to understand.....

It has always been my experiance that 90% of collectors of WW2 German do so for reasonably honorable and historical reasons. 10% do so with some hind of hidden (or non hidden) sympathy agenda.

And those 10% taint the hobby..... its like having 90% Spring water and 10% urine in a bottle..... No matter how pure and from which crystel glacier the spring water came from... people looking at that 1l bottel of mainly harmless spring water will only think of the 100ml of urine.... in there.... and that is why I think this hobby suffers so much.

I dont collect nazi Items, I collect German items and I despise the 10% that doo my hobby damage.

You are assuming I had history lessons in the US and dont read German and French history books?
