Nice pictures, brings back memories, I was there also , we were very lucky with the weather !

The SP in your picture, that was outside the museum at the Bayeux Cemetery, I have pictures of it also, that museum was very good

I did ponder on whether the paint was original on it or not, do any members have any thoughts ???

Thanks yes I have been lucky to be able to attend quite a few times...but this 2014 anniversary most likely was the last of the big events...
As we all know an 18 year old during the summer of 1944 would now be 88. The many vets still living just can't make the journey any more...

This is me June 6th, 1984, my first Normandy visit! The youngest vets back than were in their late 50's only!

The next big one was in 1994...the 50th D-Day anniversary... (with my brother)
Got lucky...was able to get my hands on an official US Government Guest pass!

With such an official 50th anniversary pass you could get through check points and into places where you can meet interesting people!
These images I took at the Utah Beach commemorations 20 years ago in 1994

This is me (in that same old M41 field jacket, as shown in 1984 images) standing next to George.Stephanopoulos.
He was the White House Communications Director at the time under Clinton...and a US Senator (Phil.Gramm,TX?) ...
I had accidently wandered into some pretty important people, while attending the Utah Bch commemorations in 1994...

Some reenactors I ran into in 1994. The one with the FFI Resistance impression is a well known French reenactor and Militaria magazine contributor. I am sure the French members here will recognize him.

The other Franchman is portraying a WH Cossack who joined the French resistance! Again these images taken 20 years ago...
