Poilu's bedroom the same after 100 yrs, and to stay the same for another 400 years!

    Very touching, his poor parents...

Great credit to the several owners who have maintained this memorial. I went to the centenary of the battle of Mons/Le Cateau and was amazed and warmed by the many events and the fact that the fallen are still remembered so strongly after 100 years.

Interesting story, and there is a nice Pickelhaub hanging in the window.

It makes you wonder how many other homes might have rooms like this.
The brother of a colleague of mine was killed in Vietnam and his room sat undisturbed until the home was sold last year. It was a big house and only her mother lived there so the space really wasn't needed. In the end most everything was boxed up and given to charity or tossed into a dumpster with the exception of a few personal items she kept or gave to her son.
