JU 88 found in Spain sea!

Hi! There's a new discovery in Spain! found a JU 88 in menorca's waters, is quite well preserved, any idea of unit? the article says it ran out of fuel and dive into the sea, all the four crew were rescued by local fishermen, all it happened the 24 of February of 1943

    Enjoy!

What a Great Post...Actor Leslie Howard had his BOAC DC3 Shot down in 43 over Biscay Bay Maybe this was one of that units aircraft.

Very neat! I'm reading a history of the RAAF Sunderland squadrons which flew over the Bay of Biscay on anti-submarine patrols. It seemed to be a pretty common event that U-Boats were escorted by the JU-88 in this area and the Australians tangled with the JU-88s many times there.

I don't think this wreck is related to such events, Menorca is in the Mediterránea sea, not the Atlantic

Any chance this could be from the Spanish Civil War?

Looks in much better shape than the pile of scrap recently lifted off the English coast

Nice to see the JU 88, but I hope they don't try to raise it. It's so corroded and encrusted that it would probably fall apart bringing it up. There is nothing new to learn from it, and it provides as we see an excellent environment for sea life. At least some good is coming out of the waste of the war.
