Any Norwegian members living near Winge, Bykle?

    Hi,

I have a 'guest book' signed and illustrated by many German soldiers enjoying R&R at a sanatorium between 1941-43. Here they skied, used saunas etc.

I have found a few photos on the web but they all look period pics, I wondered if the place still existed?

    Hi.

Winge sanatorium did exist and it's now called winge høyfjellshotell.

    Here are some pictures:
    Taken 1906:

    Another angle, taken 1907:

Probably 1943 (Used as information photos of Norway in London during the war.):

I hope this helped you out a bit.
It would be great if you could post some pictures of the book.

    Best regards,
    André

      Hello Andre,

Many thanks for the info. I have found a few pics on line but nothing recently - is the building still there?

My grandfather was involved with the Liberation of Norway which is how we got this book. He was with 19 Civil Affairs which tried to ensure a smooth transition of power, rations, fuel, healthcare etc etc from the Quisling govt back to the Norwegian people following the Liberation.

When I have time I will scan and post some pics.

I have tried to find some information regarding the sanatorium and I think it might be the "Winge turisthotell" that burned down in 1957.
