Now a branch of Goethe University, the IG Farben concern was involved in many chemical and industrial projects during the Third Reich, including synthetic petroleum production and most infamously, the production of Zyklon-B for the extermination camps. The relatively undamaged building was taken over byt he US Army after the war and served as the headquarters for the Supreme Allied Command under Dwight Eisenhower and the Office of the High Commisioner for Germany. Later it was headquarters of the US V Corps and the CIA in Germany. Renamed the Creighton Abrams Building in 1975, it was returned to the German government in 1995. Given to the University of Frankfurt, today it houses the Arts and Sciences disciplines of Goethe University.
