Ardennes/Battle of the Bulge Relics

All, are there any areas around Bastogne/Trois Ponts/Malmedy/La Gleize where you can still find foxholes, bunkers, relics, etc? I am thinking liek the area around Halbe and on the Oder. I am aware of the C Co foxholes near Foy, but anywhere else?

Hi Don, yes there are.

There are remnants of foxholes at German positions around La Gleize. The ones that I saw weren't as well-preserved as those 506th foxholes at Foy. As far as relics go, the ground around La Gleize is full of US arty shrapnel. I eyeballed the US .30 cal bullet here between two cobblestones in the main square of Stavelot in 1994; still there after 50 years.

Don, don't forget the superb museums near Malmedy and in La Gleize (under new management). Both owned by a forum member and without a doubt the best "collector quality" museums I have ever been too. I am sure you can get some local information from them as well.

Don, the Mardasson Museum was not finished when I was last there in June 2012. I assume it is now open so I might make it there after Kassel this fall.

There is also a new museum in joubieval, some 7 kilometres from vielsalm, on the n89 going to the baraque de fraiture crossroads.
it is simply called "bulge relics museum". Just check it out. It is really worth visiting it !
