I've seen glimpses of this stuff, there are soldiers in heroic poses, lots of Agrarian stuff (peasants toiling on the land etc). What is so 'dangerous' about that? Personally I'd only be moderately interested in seeing it, but this "it's too dangerous to be seen" nonsense gives it an aura of mystery it probably doesn't deserve. More PC nutters at work once again....

BTW - Thanks for posting, great link. Hope the museum does open in 2018 with or without the Nazi art! Hopefully there will be a hoard of Civil War items in there too.

Maybe because guys like me would see these paintings and be so moved that we would start worshipping them and begin dressing like them and parading around and mimicking them... oh, I forgot, we already do have re-enactors...

    PS. Joking...

I've heard about those repositories out West. I believe there are certain locations where shipments of Unit museums are sent once the unit deactivates...many of these crates contain Civil War, WW2 German & American items, Korean War, Vietnam, trophies, standards, etc. etc. I remember this when my unit the 1-13th Infantry, 8th Infantry Division, Baumholder was redesignated 3-12 Infantry. Everything was crated up and sent to one of these repositories. There are vast amounts of Unit History out there never to see the light of day until they are reactivated.

This also reminds me about I discussion I had with a friend of mine who was a Cadet at West Point (Class of 1974). There is quite a treasure chest of stuff in their storage rooms as not everything is displayed in their Museum. Many items being donated by Graduates of West Point or their families.

Bob relayed to me that as a Cadet he had access to these treasures and use to try on some of the uniforms. One he particularly remembers was a political uniform that once belonged to Von Ribbentrop. I'm not sure if the Cadets still have access these days.

If these military type repositories do exist, it would be fabulous to be able to access those. And they must be huge!
