Bust - AH dedicated to Himmler.

Hello all. The below has just surfaced on the market. Its reportedly a personal gift from Hitler to Himmler – wooden carving by Oswald Hofmann – would be interested to know anyone’s opinion on it, good or bad, feel free to comment:

I like wooden political/cultural objects a lot.But this one isn't working for me.
For me the whole dedication is fake. For example the Heinr. part makes it for me unbelievable.....

But as usual just my opinion!

Does the inscription say to 'His Reichsfuhrer...'? Surely, if it was a signed gift it would say to 'My Reichsfuhrer...'
And in any case, can you see such a clearly religious artefact as this being given by AH to HH?

Thanks very much for your comments. Certainly the artist Oswald Hofmann was very active with religious carvings throughout Germany during the Third Reich period - much of his work still remains today.

The inscription does read "His Reichfuhrer SS".

I feel there may be a very different direction regarding the actual subject - the women is said to be Hedwig Potthast - Himmlers mistress. There are not many photos of her to be found and I could only find the one below:

Combined with the photo above and where this item was found, my opinion is this item may be original - a gift from AH to HH. Regards to all Dave.

Thanks for your reply. But I can not imagine that Hitler would hand over a statue of his mistress to Himmler.

Yes its certainly an interesting thing if he did do. Still as we all know there are many things during this period that are not common knowledge with regards to the relationships between the high ranking TR officials.

For me the dedication just does not look believable.

This item would require direct and indisputable provenance and no two ways about it.
