    I want to drive the XXX Corps route through Holland

    Hi, does anyone know the exact route taken by xxx corps in Septemnber 1944 from Joes Bridge to Nijmegan? I can't find any information anywhwere that gives directions with modern day roads?

    .. Looks like the Holts guide with some pre-planning is the way to go.

      A WWII veteran friend and I drove it, very nice, dont miss the museums in the areas. Also check out google earth to see the areas.
      Before you do the drive read the book and see the movie A Bridge too Far.

        Hi,
        When you get to Nijmegen bridge, which is a very busy with traffic try to pull over at a good viewing distance.
        Then you need to let your imagination take over, my grandad passed over the bridge on 22nd sept 1944 to set up an A.D.S station.
        From the official war diaries of his unit it records them being "greeted" by Nebelwerfer salvos, with each salvo of 6 rounds the Germans were using one round of smoke.
        This ties in with what I have previously read that the bridge was shrouded in mist and smoke during the course of the battle.
        I was at Arnhem last year, the Dutch people are great, as are museums. If time permits try and visit the Ginkel Heath dropzone also.
        Oh! nearly forgot, the beer is bloody good aswell!
