Are there still NSDAP members alive?

Just came to my mind to ask it. I've heard - do not know if it is true, just heard - that the NSDAP was closed for membership. I mean, when it came to power, no longer new members were accepted, only the older ones, who believed in it when it was still not allmighty. Is this true and are there still alive NSDAP members?

    Hello Theodor,

As I understand it at the war's end there were no members of the NSDAP in Germany.

So my guess is that there are no living NSDAP members today - in Germany anyway. Might check South America though.

All kidding aside, check out these numbers courtesy AxisHistory.com

    Membership of the NSDAP
    Year   Membership
    1919   55
    1921   3.000
    1923   55.287
    1928   96.918
    1930   129.563
    1933   849.000
    1935   2.493.890
    1937   2.793.890
    1938   4.985.400
    1939   5.339.567
    1942   7.100.000
    1943   7.600.000
    1945   8.000.000 +

The numbers show that membership rose significantly after 1933, the year Hitler became Chancellor.

    p.s. - nice site you've got there.

Also noone served in the SS Thanks fior the information, seems that the members' acceptance was not stopped after they came to power. With these numbers, I think almost for sure there must be some still alive... some of those that do not exist

        Theodor,

you are indeed right. For some time the NSDAP was closed for new members. This "Aufnahmestopp" was issued on the 1st of May 1933. By this time the party had round about 2,45 Million members. Formally this ban was first lifted in 1937. Of course, this was the official stance only and there were always certain "ways" to join the party for those with the right connections.
