    reenacting

Which raises apoint~should employers use these social medias to evaluate employees? Is this a unwarranted misuse of personal life information? Personally, if I did this hobby, I don't believe I would be posting pictures, regardless of uniform~~I do wear a Civil War colonels outfit from time to time at my private historical club, but not true reenacting. I think you should be prudent with posting, but that goes for other forms of pictures as well, such as nudity.

Agree or not, any post or picture you put on the web, any email you send or comment you make is fair game for the entire world. And it lives forever. You can delete, remove or cover, but technology is already ahead of you. There are simple ways to find anything you are trying to hide. Scream about rights all you want, its a fact of the world we live in. If you don't want anyone seeing or reading something, ever, don't put it out there.

As the war ground on, the military had to start increasingly drawing upon the pool of several million men that were somewhere between their mid 20's and their early 40's at the time that the war broke out. By the time that you get to 1943-1945, the average age was closer to somewhere between mid 20's to early 30's.
I was thinking more of Waffen-SS, say 1944-45.

My old boy chum Göring div. was long on the Eastern front fighting the Russians at 17/18yrs before anyone with two arms and legs would do averages are misleading. Another German SS old boy grunt told me in the late 60's anyday they were expecting the Allies to turn up and help them out Lol! shows how screwed up war is.

Don't worry about what others think. I am an active duty Field Grade and have always let my bosses know what I do. Specifically so they won't have misconceptions later. It has worked for me. for 19 years. If your intentlons are just to reenact history and not add politics to the mix you will be fine.

Hey guys, interesting thread, great read.

Hey I was wondering, If you live in the South and do re enacting as a Northerner, do you get the same stereotype as WWII re enacting? Just wondering, I know there are still a lot of deep seeded feeling about that conflict also. I realize there are huge differences. Still a lot of emotion involved when talking about it though.

              Thanks for your thoughts

And after reading some of these points I come across two things I am happy about.

I hire and fire..and would hire an SS re en actor LOL

              and

I'm glad I don't have a fatbook/twitter/instagram account and post every picture and thought I have on there. The daughter, the other day, thought the world would love to see a picture of her winning a free coffee......like a million Canadians do a day this time of year LOL

I've been reenacting for 20 years and have not had issues at work, and I've been at a Gov't job for three years now and my coworkers know what I do. Do what you want to do and have fun. If they don't want to hire you then work for yourself.

I was born in Southern Illinois but lived much of my working life in Texas where I got into Civil War reenacting as a Confederate in 1983.
We finally realized that having 300 Confederates fighting 40 Yankees on the original battlefield where the Union actually won was not portraying it accurately nor doing the Confederates justice.
So several of us formed a Union unit and we were in demand! We got invitations to all the events so the Confederates would have someone to shoot at.
I must admit, we did get some bad stares from many of the spectators at many events which were all held in the South, many on the original battlefields.
I met many people in the hobby from all walks of life but all had a deep interest in history.
