I know that it is possible to dive as deep as 600 feet for limited periods of time. With all of the wrecks that strew the sea bottom between Naples and Tripoli or Benghazi, has anyone ever gone diving to try and locate any Italian wrecks that were carrying vehicles and supplies for the Afrika Korps? I know that there have been attempts to bring up silver & gold from the bottom of the ocean. I was wondering what a couple of dozen Mk IV PzKw's and a couple of 88 Flak batteries would be worth, if they were preserved in a cold water environment???
Just thinking on it as I was reading Carell's FOXES OF THE DESERT. It mentioned the large amounts of tonnage that went down because of the air assault umbrella that the British had out of Malta, not to mention the British submarine threat.
If some of the ships were sunk in the Gulf of Gabes, it looks doable to take a look???!!
