Would be incredible to see all three flying together but can't see either side of the Atalntic taking the risk of flying them across that distance unfortunately.

The Canadian Lancaster, in the words of the Museum, commemorates all Lancaste aircrew - and in particular, RCAF Pilot Officer Andrew Charles Mynarski, VC.

The Canadian Warplane Heritage's beautifully restored Lancaster MkX exists today as a flying tribute to all those aircrew members, living or dead, who served on these aircraft. It is especially dedicated to the memory of Pilot Officer Andrew Mynarski who symbolizes the bravery of all those who gave so much. One of only two airworthy Lancs in the world, it now bears the markings of the original Mynarski Lancaster: VR-A # KB726 of the Royal Canadian Air Force 419 "Moose" Squadron.

Last summer, it flew over my house - amazing.

That'd be great! I've seen Just Jane and several of my mates have had the opportunity to go for a taxi ride in her, much to my envy.

I have visited the former RAF East Kirkby several times and was lucky enough to have seen 'Just Jane' start-up and taxi, which in itself is quite a spectacle. To have this machine fully restored to flying condition would be an amazing sight, especially flying alongside the BBMF example. The Panton brothers deserve a great deal of credit for the work they have undertaken with this project.

I do hope that if this should eventually happen, that they would fly together over the RAF Bomber Command Memorial in London.

              Regards Richard.
Always looking for Luftwaffe Kampfflieger related document groups. In particular anything to Kampfgeschwader 2.

I fully agree - I wonder if they have considered charging passengers to raise money in advance. I would pay a lot to go up in a Lanc They could raise a lot of money and it would be well spent, and surely never ending?

                    Hi,

Saw this on UK tv, what a project!
Wish them well, it will cost a fortune to get this Lancaster flying again; really hope they succeed.

                    Very best wishes to them.

                    John

Not that risky really, as its a 4 engine airplane. I flew in a reconditioned 1944 (2 engine) Douglas Invader (A26 from Chino California to Amsterdam Holland
in 1998 with out too much difficulty (non pilot crew member). If its restored properly it should be a reliable airplane for such a distance... (with modern navigational equipment installed (GPS etc). Would love to see all flying Lancs reunited in the air!

My mothers cousin flew with 57 Squadron from East Kirkby and was shot down and killed on a raid over Munich 1943. Manged to vist his grave on my last visit to Bavaria. If anyone is interested in East Kirkby as an airfield its history is published in a book called "Silksheen"
