WWII letters from German soldiers delivered 71 years late

    Friends,

There was a short piece on tonight's UK BBC TV News at Six about the recovery in the Channel Islands of letters stolen from an German army post office and the first of them being delivered some 71 years late.

Here are a couple of links with the story in full:

Here is the link to the News programme from the BBC iPlayer, the article starts around 17mins

        Hi,

This story has been broadcast on UK (BBC1 tv) at least three times today.
The letters were stolen of the Jersey resistance just before Christmas 1941.
Over 90 letters with their contents, including photographs and British Christmas cards were recently found in the Jersey archives, and are being delivered 70+ years later where the original recipients or their families can be found.
Shows to me the power of the EU, and how great this union is to stop wars between the member states!
Great Christmas story, very heartwarming - shows just how much the political map of Europe has changed for the better!
Despite a Conservative government in the UK

        Best wishse.

        john.
