I read a book titled " The other Axis", I believe the title is correct. It dealt with the smaller nations who sided with Germany, and who, after the war had loyalists who fought the occupation forces well into the 50's and 60's in some cases. It was a very good read.

On the Dutch island of Texel the Germans fought with Georgian USSR troops (who were POWs before) until late May.

You can read about it here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Georgian_uprising_on_Texel

            Very interesting contribution!

My grandfather at the same time was stationed on the dutch island of Schiermonnikoog (Marine-Artillerie) - do you have any idea if german troops from the other dutch islands were called in to help their german comrades on Texel?
