I am surprised there was not a Waffen SS Japanese Legion in WW2

What is so funny? Why is it any different than this: http://www.utne.com/Mind-Body/German...n-Culture.aspx

Don't get me started on obese north american reenactors, now there is a definite LMFAO.

One might what to check out the reviews on the recent movie "My Way", apparently based on fact. Japanese and Korean soldiers forcibly conscripted into the Soviet army and sent against the Wehrmacht. Then captured by the Wehrmacht and conscripted in to the foreign ranks. An interesting movie, though it could have done with an authenticity commissar.

There are several pics of that group that snufbox posted on some thread here on the forum. These guys make Sgt. Schultz look svelt. The fat chick takes the cake however.....

                          Schultz and Schmitzen

Schultz has been eating too many mashed potatoes by the look of his belted ordnance.
The 82nd airborne group reminded me of the Nisei that fought in Italy and took home more medals than any other American unit during the war. To semiquote Omar Bradley I too am wondering " where the hell did they get all that stuff". Everything but the corrugated half track is quite impressive. Thanks for the thread.
